Painter Yoshitaka Amano: Challenging the Dragon in the Sky (2023)
　

This project follows internationally renowned artist Yoshitaka Amano, known for Final Fantasy and other works, as he creates a new four-meter-tall painting. The work was displayed in the Main Hall of Myōshin-ji Temple in Kyoto, where Kano Tanyū’s famous cloud dragon fresco also soars, creating a striking fusion of contemporary art and historic architecture. Iwama directed the project with great enthusiasm, capturing a compelling visual record of Amano’s process. The digest version remains available on YouTube. This collaboration marked the beginning of a lasting exchange between Iwama and Amano; even after the broadcast, Iwama continued visiting Amano’s studio to document his work. The resulting footage is set to be compiled into a feature-length documentary on Amano, planned for worldwide release.
