Exhibited at Mizuma Art Gallery, Tokyo, from October 11 for one month, this solo show presented a wide range of Yoshitaka Amano’s works. Iwama directed the looped film projected at the venue, capturing the subtle unfolding of Amano’s creative process.

“Blue Sky brings together a wide array of works in oil, acrylic, glaze, and gold and silver leaf, all expressed through a palette centered on blue. The color evokes a broad spectrum of images—sea and sky, calm, peace, intelligence, nobility, youth. Amano, long known for employing myriad colors with unique sensitivity, invites viewers to witness the depth of his blue expressions in this exhibition.” (Mizuma Art Gallery)

During the period when he frequently visited Amano’s studio, Iwama meticulously documented the formation of these shades of blue. By intercutting this footage with animations drawn from Amano’s own line drawings, he created a work that serves as a luminous thread into Amano’s artistic universe, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the alchemy of color and form that defines Amano’s universe.
